Baseball:

Peru took on North Miami at home on Wednesday for the start of a very baseball heavy week for the Tigers. Peru’s bats started off very hot but the Warriors put up a five run 3rd inning, but Peru got back ahead and didn’t let go for a 7-6 win over North Miami. #11 Matthew Roettger was the starting pitcher for the Tigers, and went for 5 innings, with 7 hits, 6 runs, 6 earned runs (8.40 ERA), 3 walks, and 9 K’s. #4 Ian Potts came in for the save, going 2 innings, no hits, runs or earned runs. He walked two batters, and grabbed 4 K’s. #9 Reis Bellar went 3-3 with a walk, 2 RBI, and 2 doubles. #4 Ian Potts went 2-3 with a double. #10 Logan Gatliff went 1-3 with an RBI and #11 Matthew Roettger went 1-3 with an RBI.

Peru traveled to Caston on Thursday for a matchup with the Comets. Peru scored a run in every inning and run-ruled Caston in 5 innings. The Tigers tore up the basepaths with 12 stolen bases, with four each by #1 Gavin Eldridge and #6 Fox Huppenthal. #7 Jaxson Manriquez started for the Tigers and pitched 1 inning with no hits, 1 run, 1 earned run (7.00 ERA), 4 walks, and no strikeouts. #21 Ryne Butt came in for the rest of the game and pitched 3 innings, 2 hits, 2 runs, 2 earned runs (4.67 ERA), no walks, and 2 K’s. #2 Cooper Baldwin went 1-1 with an RBI, #4 Ian Potts went 1-1 with a walk, and #21 Ryne Butt went 1-1 with 2 RBI and a double. #6 Fox Huppenthal went 1-2 with 2 walks, 2 RBI, and a double, #9 Reis Bellar went 2-4 with 2 RBI and a double, and #24 AJ Rodriguez went 1-2. #1 Gavin Eldridge went 1-3 with 2 walks and 3 RBI, #5 Jackson Rogers went 1-3 with a walk, and #11 Matthew Roettger went 1-3 with 3 RBI and a home run. Peru beat Caston 15-3.

Peru’s varsity and junior varsity traveled to Logansport on Friday evening for a JV-V doubleheader. #10 Logan Gatliff started for the Tigers and went 4 innings with 8 hits, 8 runs, no earned runs (0.00 ERA), 2 walks, and 4 K’s, and was given the loss. #21 Ryne Butt went in as relief and went ⅔ innings with 4 hits, 4 runs, 1 earned run (10.50 ERA), no walks, and 1 strikeout. #7 Jaxson Manriquex went 1-2. #1 Gavin Eldridge went 1-3, and Logan Gatliff went 1-3 with an RBI. #5 Jackson Rogers also had an RBI.

Peru made the long trip to Veedersburg for a doubleheader matchup with Fountain Central. In game 1, #4 Ian Potts started for the Tigers, and went 4 innings with 4 hits, 1 run, 1 earned run (1.75 ERA), no walks and 4 K’s. #14 Kouper Burks came in for relief and pitched for 3 innings, allowing 2 hits, 4 runs, 3 earned runs (7.00 ERA), 3 walks and 2 K’s. Softball: Peru took on North Miami in a TRC conference matchup on Wednesday. Jaylah Harlan pitched a complete game of 7 innings with 15 hits, 10 runs, 9 earned runs (9.00 ERA), no walks, and 8 K’s. “The Lady Tigers moved to 2-0 on the season and 1-0 in the TRC with a convincing 4-1 victory over the visiting Rochester Zebras.

Peru pulled off the singles sweep with #1 singles Mackey Hyde, #2 singles Lauren Boyer, and #3 singles Emma Eldridge all posting victories. Hyde won 6-0, 6-0, and Eldridge won 6-1, 6-1. Boyer held the #2 spot with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-0 score. 

The other point for Peru came at #1 doubles with the duo of Esme Flores and Kara Baker winning 6-1, 6-2.

Rochester’s lone point came in 3 sets at #2 doubles with a win over Peru’s Cameryn Raber and Caidance Luster 6-1, 4-6, 6-2.

The Lady Tigers continue conference play at Thrush Courts on Wednesday against Southwood.”

“The Lady Tigers were in action Wednesday night at Thrush Courts against the Southwood Knights. Peru took a 4-1 victory to move to 3-0 on the season and 2-0 in the TRC.

Emma Eldridge secured the point for the Lady Tigers at #1 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win. 

Cameryn Raber continued the strong singles play for the Lady Tigers at #2 spot with a 6-0, 6-1 victory.

Peru swept the doubles spots with a 6-0, 6-0 win by the #1 tandem of Mackey Hyde and Lauren Boyer and a 6-3, 6-0 victory by the #2 duo of Kara Baker and Esme Flores.

Caidance Luster surrendered the lone point for Peru with a 7-5, 3-6, 0-6 loss at #3 singles.”

“The Lady Tigers continue a busy week with trips to Lewis Cass High School on Thursday and William Henry Harrison High School on Saturday to contest the 4-team Harrison Invite. 

The Lady Tigers overcame high winds and the Lady Kings to post a 3-2 victory at Lewis Cass High School Thursday evening. With the win, the Lady Tigers improved to 4-0 on the season.

“The Lady Tigers, along with Goshen and Whiiteland, will travel to William Henry Harrison High School in Lafayette to contest the Harrison Invite on Saturday at 10 a.m. 

The capricious spring weather and a talented William Henry Harrison High School Raiders team combined to thwart the Lady Tigers at the Harrison Invite on Saturday. In the first match of the day, the Raiders swept Peru. The Lady Tigers were slated to play Goshen in the second match, but weather intervened as a combination of rain, sleet, and hail overtook the area and forced a cancellation. Scores for the Peru vs Harrison matches are below.

Emma Eldridge lost at #1 singles 0-6, 0-6.

Cameryne Raber surrendered the first set at #2 singles in a tiebreaker and lost the second set 1-6.

Caidance Luster played #3 singles and lost 0-6, 0-6. 

The doubles fared no better for Peru as Mackey Hyde and Lauren Boyer lost 1-6, 5-7, and Esme Flores and Kara Baker lost 1-6, 0-6 at #1 and #2 doubles respectively. 

The Lady Tigers continue a demanding schedule this week with a Tuesday home match against Tippecanoe Valley and road matches Wednesday and Thursday against Logansport and Western. The week concludes with three more matches at the Homestead Invite on Saturday.”

“The Tigers traveled to Round Barn on Wednesday to compete against Rochester and Wabash. The team continued to show improvement and split the match, losing to Rochester (166), but defeating Wabash (222). Bryson Ragland led Peru with a round of 44. Other counting scores were Mason Camden with 45, Karter Schwartz with 46, and Maddox Bretzman with 52. 

The Tigers travel to Dykeman Park on Saturday to compete in the Logansport Invitational. The start time has been moved to 9:00 a.m. “

“Peru traveled to Dykeman Park on Saturday to compete in the Logansport Invite. The team had to deal with cold, windy conditions, but persevered to post a season best score to date. The Tigers were led by Bryson Ragland with 93, followed by Maddox Bretzman with 94, Mason Camden and Karter Schwartz with 100, and Nick Kiefer with 105.

The team returns to action Tuesday vs Marion at Meshingomesia. The match starts at 5:00.”
