Weekly Sports Roundup 2/19/23 – 2/25/23

Boys Basketball: Peru took on Wabash for the last game of the regular season. Peru had a very slow 1st half, being down 23-36 at halftime. Peru battled back but was still down 37-50 after the third. Peru’s offense exploded for a big comeback to force overtime at 64-64. Peru’s offense couldn’t stay hot and the Tigers fell to Wabash 74-82. #3 Braxten Robbins had 23 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. #11 Matthew Roettger had 17 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and a steal. #2 Gavin Eldridge had 16 points, a rebound, 5 assists, and a steal. #5 Alex Ross had 10 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal, and a block. #0 Ian Potts had 4 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and a steal. #14 Xavier Turner had 4 points, 3 rebounds, an assist, and a steal. #23 Isaac Braley had a rebound. Peru takes on Mississinewa on Tuesday for Round 1 of the Sectionals at 7 PM.

Gymnastics: Peru took 14th out of 19 teams at the Lafayette Jefferson Sectional and scored 41.5 points. Recap from Takyia McCord on the Peru athletics website: “Freshman, Sophia Dyer, scored her season best on floor with a 5.275. Sophomore, Marissa Roush, scored her season best on beam with a 5.4. Freshman, Ashlyn Brown, scored her season best on beam, as well, with a 4.375. Freshman, Nissa Jones, led the team as our all-around competitor. She finished sectionals with an all-around score of 21.55.”
