Weekly Sports Roundup:
Girls basketball faced off against 1A #9 Caston at home for the first home game of the season for both Peru and new head coach Jenna Hayes. The Lady Tigers fired out quickly to an 18-15 lead after the first quarter, and kept ahead by three at halftime 28-25. Caston got hot shooting and Peru were called for multiple fouls during the third and were down 38-41. Peru couldn’t mount the comeback late and lost a close game to Caston 51-59. Peru’s main scorer was #4 Brianna Bennett with 18 points followed by #10 Cameryn Raber and #2 Kaylene Kirk with 8 points. Other scorers were #30 Brooklyn Garner with 6 points, #23 Addison Robbins scored 5 points, and #5 Emma Eldridge scored 3 points. #20 Emily Ream and #22 Maddie Nordman scored 2 points. The Lady Tigers host Culver Military Academy on Saturday with the Junior Varsity tipping off at 12 PM and Varsity following at 1:30 PM.
Wrestling and Boys Basketball practices are finally underway. Wrestling’s first meet is next Thursday, November 17th at Wabash. Boys Basketball’s first game is on Wednesday, November 23rd vs. Logansport.
