Weekly Sports Roundup 1/1/23 – 1-6/23

Girls Basketball: The Lady Tigers hosted Tri-Central on Wednesday. There was an offensive explosion for the Lady Tigers, hitting 7 three point shots and every player scored. Peru beat the Tri-Central Trojans 60-43 to bring them to 5-9.

Boys Basketball: Peru welcomed North Miami to Tig-Arena. The Tigers kept ahead of the Warriors all game and won 66-38. Leading the way for the Tigers was 3 players in double figures; Alex Ross with 15 points, Gavin Eldridge with 13 points, and Matthew Roettger with 12 points. Peru moves to 9-1 on the year with a tough schedule ahead, including a game vs. Lewis Cass at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Saturday. / The Tigers faced a very tough Oak Hill on the road on Friday evening. Peru kept ahead in the first half, 27-24. Oak Hill had a big offensive 3rd quarter outscoring Peru 14-20. Peru couldn’t hold on at the end and lost 48-53. Leading the Tigers in scoring was #2 Gavin Eldridge and #3 Braxten Robbins with 16 points. Gavin had a great game with his 16 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 steals. #11 Matthew Roettger had 9 points, #0 Ian Potts had 5 points, #14 Xavier Turner had 2 points, and #5 Alex Ross may have not scored, but battled with 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal.

Wrestling: 9 Tigers defeated Northfield out of 14 matches to win 54-27. They moved to 9-3 on duels. They host the Peru Quad on January 7th.
