Peru (4-0; 3-0 TRC) Runs Through Wabash (0-4; 0-3 TRC) for an Easy Conference Victory
Peru took on Wabash on Friday at a rainy Bengal Memorial Stadium. Peru took control early with a quick Apaches safety, then the Tigers found themselves at the Wabash 1 yard line quickly. Avionne Jackson took it to house and the Tigers lead 9-0 early in the 1st quarter. A quick Peru stop then a long march to the end zone was capped off by a 6 yard run by Matthew Roettger. Another Peru stop saw Matthew Roettger once again rushing 6 yards for a Peru touchdown, and the Tigers lead 22-0 at the end of the 1st quarter!
The second quarter led to more of the same from the Tigers, a quick stop from the defense, and then the Tigers scored another touchdown with a 34 yard reception from Roettger to Tanner Boggs. Another Tiger defensive stop led to another Peru touchdown, this time a 50 yard pass from Roettger to Zach Smithers. Again, Peru got another stop of defense, then Avionne Jackson found the endzone again with a 4 yard touchdown run. Wabash put up their first points of the half with a touchdown, but Peru quickly responded with a 15 yard pass to Griffin Wouster from Matthew Roettger. Peru lead 47-7 at halftime.
A running clock was in effect during the entire 2nd half because Peru lead by 35+ after the 1st half. Isaiah Korba scored the only touchdown during the 3rd quarter for either team, and Peru lead 53-7 after the 3rd quarter. Wabash scored again during the 4th quarter but it did not matter as Peru still secured a huge blowout win over Wabash 53-13.
Peru still holds onto the conference lead with a 3-0 record in the Three Rivers Conference. Maconaquah and Rochester also hold the conference lead with a 3-0 record. Lewis Cass, Manchester, and Southwood all hold a 2-1 spot in the conference. Whitko, North Miami, Northfield, and Wabash are all looking for their first win in the conference, holding an 0-3 spot in the TRC.
Next week holds one of the biggest challenges of the season that also holds severe conference implications, but Friday’s game could also be a preview of a sectional matchup. The Tigers will travel to Maconaquah to take on the Braves. Peru is 4-0, while Maconaquah is 3-1. This will be the 52nd meeting between Peru and Maconaquah for football, and Peru currently leads the series 29-22. Peru is ranked #15 in 3A in the Coaches Poll, while Maconaquah is unranked. As of last week’s AP media poll, Peru was ranked #11, while Maconaquah is unranked. John Harrell’s score prediction is Peru 35, Maconaquah 31. Bottom line; expect an amazing game between two great schools and a large, maybe even sold out crowd.

Tiger Tennis Takes On Good Competition
The Peru Tennis team had a big week last week, taking on 6 teams in just 5 days! On Tuesday they traveled to Whitko for a conference matchup with the Wildcats. Peru easily took Whitko down, with 1 singles Ian Potts, 2 singles Jayleb Walsh, and 3 singles Jacob Boswell all winning 6-0, 6-0. 1 doubles Lucas Musser and Jackson Boswell grabbed a 6-1, 6-1 win, and 2 doubles was forfeited by Whitko to send Peru home with a 5-0 sweeping win.
The Tigers then traveled to Culver Military Academy for the biggest test of the season up to that point. Ian Potts lost 0-6, 1-4 at 1 singles, Jayleb Walsh lost 0-6, 0-6 at 2 singles, and Jacob Boswell let CMA slip by at 3 singles 6-2, 3-6, 2-6. Jackson Rogers and Jackson Boswell lost 2-6, 1-6 at 1 doubles, and Jadin Pallante and Lucas Musser lost 2-6, 2-6 at 2 doubles. The Culver Military Academy Eagles beat Peru 0-5.
Peru hosted Northwestern on Thursday for a matchup with a solid Tigers team. Ian Potts won 6-4, 6-1 at 1 singles, Jayleb Walsh lost in a 3rd set tiebreaker 6-2, 4-6, 4-10 TB at 2 singles, Jacob Boswell won 6-1, 6-1 at 3 singles, Jackson Boswell and Jackson Rogers won 6-3, 6-2 at 1 doubles, and Jadin Pallante and Lucas Musser won at 2 doubles 6-2, 4-6, 12-10. Peru beat Northwestern 4-1, and improved to 10-1 on the season.
Peru traveled to Kokomo on Saturday morning to compete in the Kokomo Invite. Peru lost to Delta 1-4, beat West Lafayette 5-0, and knocked off Kokomo 3-2. Unfortunately, that would not be enough as Delta won the Kokomo invite by just one match, winning 10 while Peru won 9. Peru moved to 12-2 on the season and has another big week coming up.

Peru did not have any games last week.
Volleyball
Peru Battles Against Good Competition, Picks Up 1 Out Of 2 Matches.
The Tiger volleyball team took on a road match up against conference foe Whitko on Tuesday. Peru held close to Whitko, but dropped the 1st set 20-25. Whitko ran away with the 2nd set 5-25, but Perus attempt for a comeback led to nothing with a Whitko win 24-26 and the Wildcats beat Peru in 3 sets.
The Taylor Titans traveled to Peru on Thursday. Peru got behind after the first set 22-25, but the Tigers ran away with the match, winning set 2 25-18, winning a close 3rd set 25-22, and silencing the Titans in the 4th set 25-12. Peru moved to 4-13 after beating Taylor.

Peru Takes On Old Conference Foe
Peru traveled for the first of two matches last week, first taking on former TRC member Tippecanoe Valley on Tuesday. Tippecanoe Valley got a big lead early and ran away with the win, taking a 0-3 lead after halftime, then putting two more goals in the net to get a 0-5 win over the Tigers.

Peru Golf Battles at The TRC Meet
Peru traveled to Dykeman Park to take on host Maconaquah but also played against Logansport. Maconaquah picked up the win with 168, while Logansport grabbed 2nd with 185, and Peru took 3rd place with 208
Peru took on 9 other conference teams at Round Barn Golf Course. Rochester grabbed the conference championship, shooting with a 351, Maconaquah scored a 357, Northfield took 3rd with a 417, Southwood went home with 4th place shooting a 420, Wabash scored a 426, Peru took 6th with a 428, Whitko scored 7th with 441, Lewis Cass scored 450, North Miami grabbed 9th with a 452, and Manchester’s score was not provided.
