Daylight Savings has been a controversial idea for some time. Many people do not want it around anymore because it messes with their sleep schedules. It shifts the clock an hour forward on the second Sunday of March and shifts back on the first Sunday of November.
Daylight Savings was implemented to give us longer lasting daylight during the day, so people use less lighting and do not waste electricity. There are lots of people who do not find it useful and think it is actually a bad thing. People who have a daily sleep schedule and the change in time can mess it up, causing them to feel tired.
There has been talk of getting rid of it for years, but no vote has been applied to make that change. There would not be a negative impact since it is not something necessary to the benefit of the earth. When asking a Sophomore at Peru Jr/Sr Highschool, Braidan Holloway, how he feels about daylight savings, he said, “I don’t get why the time couldn’t just stay the same since it doesn’t change much, and the jump forward always makes me slumped in school.” Many people think the same thing and hope that we will stop making this change every year.
