Weekly Sports Roundup 11/12/22 – 11/18/22:
Girls Basketball:
The Lady Tigers started the week with a loss to the Culver Military Academy Eagles 49-56. Emma Eldridge had a great game with a statline of 20 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals.
The Lady Tigers traveled to Whitko on Tuesday and won their first game of the season 43-25. After a tied first half, the Lady Tigers came out of the locker room strong and did not allow any points in the 3rd Quarter. Peru finished strong in the 4th quarter scoring 9 and allowing 5. Leading the charge for the Lady Tigers was Emma Eldridge with 12 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, and 1 block.
To round out the week the Lady Tigers traveled to Rochester to face a winless Zebras. Peru and Rochester held close after the 1st but were down 11-12. Rochester pulled away during the 2nd quarter to gain a nine point lead at the half, 16-25. Peru kept up with Rochester but were still down by eight after the 3rd quarter, 22-30. Peru lost the game 34-45 and moved to 1-4 on the season. Brianna Bennett had an amazing start to the 4th quarter putting up 8 points and tying the game 30-30. Scoring for the Lady Tigers was lead by Brianna Bennett with 16 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. Maddie Nordman, Addison Robbins, and Kaylene Kirk each put up 4 points for the Lady Tigers. Emily Ream and Cameryn Raber scored 3 points each.

Boys Basketball: Peru took on Triton as a scrimmage for the first game of the season, and were excited to face an opponent that wasn’t their own teammates. They played 4 quarters of 15 minutes running clocks with the score resetting after each quarter. Peru won the first quarter 24-9, then won a close 2nd quarter 14-11, to at least take a tie or better. Peru then lost the 3rd quarter 9-15, but came back and won the 4th quarter 18-10, and took the game overall. The official final score was Peru winning 65-45.

Wrestling: The Tigers wrestling team took on Wabash for their first meet of the season. Peru won 10 matches and lost 4 matches. They beat Wabash by a score of 60-24. They moved to 1-0 on the season.
